Class of 2025 Senior Family Gift
What is the Senior Family Gift Project?
The Friends School Senior Family Gift serves as a lasting legacy for seniors and their families – one that benefits our entire community and advances the school’s priorities. The Class of 2025 students thoughtfully chose to support a project reflective of their close bond and interests.
The Class of 2025 Wayfinding Sculpture–
Fox Statue
Since 2005, Friends has committed itself to transforming our 35-acre campus into a native plant oasis in the city. The concept of wayfinding sculptures was introduced in 2019, when the Class of 1969 helped fund maps of the School’s Native Plant Teaching Gardens as part of their 50th reunion. Then, in 2022, the Board of Trustees ratified a comprehensive Campus Plan, which identified the continued development and growth of the Native Plant Teaching Gardens as a priority. The Class of 2025’s fox sculpture will be the first of its kind, further advancing the Campus Plan. Designed and sculpted by Friends alum Bart Walter ’76, the larger-than-life fox statue will symbolically honor the Quaker values introduced by George Fox, while evoking a spirit of curiosity, sensitivity, intuition, and purpose. Our first wayfinding statue will begin a new tradition and help enhance our campus environment by fostering a sense of play, creativity, stewardship, and community. A plaque commemorating the Class of 2025 and its fundraising effort will accompany the installation. We can all look forward to celebrating and capturing milestone moments and student memories while gathered around this beautiful work of art for years to come!
The artist Bart Walter ’76 has begun to sculpt small models upon which to base the final piece. He has provided this sample as a visual concept. The final piece will include more detail and be mounted on natural rock. Note: this model is not to scale and is not the final version.
